What if school felt less like sitting at a desk and more like exploring the world around you? We believe early childhood learning should follow a child’s natural curiosity. For ages 3 to 7, our School Program combines outdoor play, creative arts, and hands-on discovery to foster a lifelong love for learning. Here, children don’t just learn about nature—they learn in it. They develop confidence, critical thinking, and social connections in an environment that honors childhood.
For the 2026-2027 school year, we are now enrolling students for our Early Life class (ages 4-5) and our First Life class (ages 6-7). Several of our enrichment classes are open to local youth for enrollment as “á la carte” classes. Please visit our Programs, Enrichment, and Community Classes pages for more detailed information. If you have an older child and would like to sign up to be notified when we have enough students interested to open a class, please submit your information to our waiting list linked here and we will reach out promptly with more information.

Getting Ready to Apply
We recommend that families planning for their child to start school at the beginning of the next school year apply between December and April of the prior school year. Typically, application processing begins in the early winter months. Applying during this time frame leads to a stronger possibility that space and availability will be available. We will add families to wait lists should the need arise.
Acceptance to the Organic School
Acceptance to the Fairhope Organic School is offered to students whose abilities fall within a peer range, so that all students in a class can work comfortably together and have equal opportunities to receive time and attention from the teacher. As part of our efforts to differentiate instruction, we provide some learning support for students with the expectation that they will become self-reliant over time. However, the Organic School cannot provide extensive assistance for students with significant learning, social, and/or emotional differences.

Tuition & Fees
We believe in creating an inclusive community where every child has the opportunity to thrive. To support this belief, we offer affordable tuition for full-time and part-time students to make our school accessible to a diverse range of families.
Parental Commitment:
Parents and guardians who are supportive of our school are vital to its success and its image in the community. Having such adults in their lives is also crucial to a student’s attitude toward school and his or her ability to learn. In choosing the Marietta Johnson School in particular, you are asked to accept the responsibility of supporting the school and the Organic Family.
Volunteers are essential to our school’s well being and its educational atmosphere. Student’s lives are enriched by having parents involved and committed to the school. It is of utmost importance to us that parents take and active part in the family activities we offer at the school and ask that they regularly participate.

Ready for your child to thrive in school?
The Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education admits students of any sex, race, color, sexual orientation, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students in the school.
