FAQs

  • Arrival is at 7:45 – 8:00 am and dismissal is at 2:30 – 2:45 pm, Monday – Friday.
    We follow the Baldwin County School calendar for attendance, including all holidays and weather closures.

  • The students who benefit from our program are those who are curious and self-motivated to learn. They are able to work both independently and cooperatively to solve problems and achieve goals. They are respectful of others.
    The Organic School is not equipped to serve students who have demonstrated learning difficulties or behavioral problems.

  • Starting in First Life, students attend weekly classes in art, music, pottery, dance, woodworking, and yoga.
    Our students become junior naturalists through daily guided outdoor experiences on our beautiful campus and in the surrounding woods and gully.
    The student garden provides hands on lessons in science and math as students learn about the value of planning, cooperation, and patience.

  • We do not use grades or standardized testing. Evidence of progress is shown through portfolios of student work and teacher observations. Parents receive quarterly narrative reports rather than traditional report cards.

  • We have a flexible curriculum, using elements of the Core Knowledge Curriculum and Eureka Math, with the Alabama State Standards as a framework. Teachers consider the interests and needs of students when planning learning experiences.

  • Fairhope Organic School offers a variety of enrichment classes. Students participate daily in classes to develop their coordination, creativity, intellect. Please see our enrichment page for more details.
